...meet Somo the Rhino...

Somo is a young bull black rhino who was born in 2016. Somo's mother, Natwange, was part of the founder group of rhino's first to be re-introduced to the area in 2003. Natwange is a legendary cow who produced seven calves and was the first to re-produce on Zambian soils since the 1980's.

Coming from great bloodlines, Somo was named after the late Chief Nabwalya Blackson Somo. Being a young male, Somo has a tough few years ahead dodging the other larger bulls. He is currently living between two bull territories and he is often found hanging out with his older sister, Luaniza, who he followed once his mother birthed her next calf.
